The Oscars, Pearl

I caught the Oscar Nominated Short Films 2017: Animation at the Ritz on Tuesday.

My favorites are the half-hour Pear Cider and Cigarettes, with its noir-style animation reminiscent of The Maxx, and Pearl.

Pearl (Patrick Osborne, 2016)
I just found out that this story about a father/daughter family seen from the passenger side of a car was animated so that the viewer can look around the environment freely while it's playing. It's a great animation of itself, but if you click on the arrows in the top left corner, you can look around the inside of the car! Neat!

As for the full-length animation, I haven't seen any of them. But my vote is already for The Red Turtle, which I'll be watching at the Ritz this afternoon.
