My favorite independent book store is Brickbat Books on 4th Street in Center City. I've found used books and comics there that I haven't seen anywhere else.
The proprietor is very particular when selecting books for his inventory. Some are from other countries and some are out of print. I was in there yesterday looking through books by Edward Gorey and David Macaulay.
The next time you're looking for something unique on South Street, turn south on 4th. It's about a block and a half down, on the left.
