It's Edward Gorey's birthday! He was born on this day in 1925.
Gorey is known for the numberous (more than 100) small books he wrote and illustrated, and for the opening and closing credits of Masterpiece Mystery!, which were animated to match his distinctive style.

There's something intimate about reading a very small graphic book. As a collector of mini-comics and Gorey's books in particular, I visited The Edward Gorey House musuem in Cape Cod in 2019 and wrote about it in this old post.
