Pop art cards 3

For anyone interested in mail art, I recommend How to Draw a Bunny. It's a documentary about the enigmatic life and mysterious death of performance artist, collagist and correspondence artist, Ray Johnson (1927–1995).

The doc is available to watch online for free over here on Vimeo with no commercials, required account, or any catch at all. Artists interviewed include Christo, Chuck Close, Roy Lichtenstein, Judith Malina, and James Rosenquist.

About a half-hour in (1962), Johnson founds the New York Correspondence School, which is simply New York artists mailing work to each other.

The top two cards were compsosed from nature magazines my dad was throwing out. The third is a combination of nature images and what was left of my sci-fi magazines.

Looks like using images from a wider variety of sources garners more dynamic results. I'll have to keep that in mind if I try collage again. On to other things...
