The new half-hour episode comprises two shorter videos: the hand-sewn masks video and the hand-rolled scarves video, below. Each offers an alternative to the CoverAid PHL mask from Episode 1, so the second episode really is a sequel.
There are some subtle differences between the full episode and the two separate parts so that each part works as it's own mini-episode.
Episode 1 will continue to air on the PhillyCAM channel on Wednesday mornings through June and July. They'll start showing Episode 2 in August and run it through September. This generous schedule will allow us time to put together Episode 3 which is due in August and will air in October.
My primary goal for Episode 3 is to improve the audio. My mother's studio is in a basement, so her voice bounces around the room before it reaches the microphone in the camera. If you look closely, you'll see in this episode she's wired for sound. Unfortunately, the lapel mike she's wearing handles voices better than stray noises. Scissors go SCHLOMP SCHLOMP SCHLOMP.
So we ditched that plan and returned to the audio from the camera mike. Plan B is our new boom microphone, which we'll be using when we shoot this weekend.
