Philadelphia's Trocadero theater
is going out of business next month. The Troc has been around long enough that W.C. Fields used to perform there. It's a great old theater and the best place to catch alternative acts. I remember seeing They Might Be Giants there a couple of times in the nineties.
To go out in style, the Troc will be hosting
Big Mess Cabaret on
May 31 and
June 1. Big Mess is a vaudevillian and burlesque variety show that has been appearing at the Troc for more than twenty years. Tickets are available at
the Troc website.
I'll be there to see friend and fellow painter
Anders Hansen who performs with the Big Mess Orchestra. Check out this video of
the Ukulele Orchestra on the Troc stage with Big Mess in 2009.
