Last July, the San Diego Comic-Con was held online, accessible to everyone free of charge. Panel discussions were recorded via video conferencing and posted on YouTube.

Comic-Con International has just announced that the San Diego con will be run the same way this year, as will the Wondercon convention later this month on the 26th and 27th.
Living on the East Coast, it's pretty great news that convention-goers will be spared both admission fees and airfare.
